Pisac is huge! it is not possible to cover the whole Pisac when going on a classic Sacred Valley tour, this 1-day hike allows you to explore the whole site of Pisac where you will witness the crop terracings, dwellings, religious buildings, and more.
You start the trek at the upper part of Pisac, where you will get stunning views of the Sacred Valley, the cemetery, and small neighborhoods atop the jagged mountain sides, you will then descend to the religious part of Pisac, which is the highlight of this trek, here you will see nicely and perfectly fit rock walls (type ashlar) which were temples for specific deities. The next places to explore are the large farming terraces in the lower part and more ancient neighborhoods, and you will finish the day trek in Pisac town, once here, you will explore its bustling market.
This hike does not require experience in trekking as long as you are determined to make this hike and have all the positive vibes then you will have an awesome day. If you have planned to hike to Machu Picchu by Classic Inca Trail, Salkantay Trek, or other alternative trails, then this day hike is perfect for acclimatization before your long trek starts, which will make you ready to rock on your next hike to Machu Picchu. Join us for a thrilling 1-day adventure as we embark on an unforgettable trip to Pisac archaeological park, departing from the heart of Cusco. We’ll start our journey in the morning, picking you up from your hotel at 8:00 am. Once there, we will start exploring the site from the upper part of the park, where the Incan neighborhoods and an Incan cemetery are located.
We will then circle the mountain following a section of the Inca trail to arrive at the religious part of Pisac called Intiwatana, views are fantastic from this section of the trail. At Intiwanata, the religious site is the most beautiful and richly worked constructions to worship the sun god and other Andean gods and goddesses, here your private guide will deliver great information.
Our next places to explore are the farming terraces and other neighborhoods, we will enjoy them while you make your way to the town of Pisac. Upon arrival in Pisac town, we will visit its colorful bustling market. Finished the hike, we will transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco or Sacred Valley.

The hike to the Pisac Ruins depends on your speed and level of physical fitness. On average, this hike takes 3 – 4 hours.
The best time to go to Pisac Ruins is during the dry season, from May through August. These months are actually winter in the Andes and you will have blue skies, amazing views, and the sunshine makes it the best comfortable hiking conditions. However, the trek is available year-round and can offer various benefits throughout the year.
We recommend shoulder-seasons just before and after the rains that is late April, May, and September, October, and early November. During those months the weather is still dry, temperatures are pleasant, and the trail is less crowded.
December through March is the rainy season in the Andes and hiking to the Pisac Ruins is not recommended. Sustained, heavy rains can make the trail unsafe. Rain quite often means snow at higher elevations, too, which is not only unpleasant to hike through, but could dramatically affect your views of the striped mountains!
Trekking during the shoulder season (April, September, October) is weather-dependent. We are willing to book Pisac Ruins 1 day trek during this time, but if conditions are poor we reserve the right to cancel or modify your trip.
This may just be a day trip to Pisac Ruins, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. In fact, Pisac Ruins is considered a moderately difficult hike.
Pisac Ruins 1 day trek starts at an altitude of 3,400 m/ 11,155 ft and it has a hiking duration of 3 – 4 hours.
While the hike is only for few hours, it is a steep, downhill walk on some sections, with an elevation loss of nearly 400m (1,312 ft).
The weather in Pisac Ruins is very unpredictable, changing frequently and quickly. There are two seasons in the Cusco Region of Peru, where Pisac Ruins is located—Wet Season (December to April) and Dry Season (May to November).
You might see warm weather and sunny skies one minute and then cloudy skies and snowfall the next. The best idea is to make sure you’re prepared for all weather by dressing in layers. The weather during the dry season is usually sunny with little chance of rain. During the wet season, there are significant amounts of rain and snow.
